As a healthcare professional for 35 years, Nancy’s experience spans clinical operations, vendor perspective, consulting, and IT operations. Her work is nationally recognized and award-winning, most recently recognized as the 2019 HIMSS-ANI Nursing Informatics Leader of the Year. While at NYU Langone Health, Nancy led a team of 250 people, and growing award-winning talent to achieve HIMSS 6, HIMSS 7, HIMSS Davies Award, and several innovation partnerships. As an IT executive, she led the successful development and execution of the clinical IT strategy for the health system, as well as the clinical IT strategy and execution to support merger and acquisition activity of the health system. Her work included leadership in forming an offshore partnership with a vendor in India for operational IT support services as well as oversight of onshore clinical helpdesk operations. In her role as vice president, Nancy provided leadership and guidance over the clinical systems team in the clinical IT implementation of a new and fully digital hospital in Manhattan.
As a clinician, Nancy worked across the continuum of care including long-term care, acute care medical and surgical, inpatient obstetrics/labor and delivery, and ambulatory care. The majority of her clinical years in direct care were spent in the specialty of perinatal nursing. Nancy has held a variety of positions from staff nurse, mentor and educator to manager and director in clinical roles. Since leaving direct patient care in 2002, Nancy has held a variety of roles in healthcare IT including Clinical Lead in the implementation of software, Program Director, Executive Consultant, Senior Director and Vice President. From 1998-2003 she served in leadership roles in the Association of Women’s Health and Neonatal Nursing. Nancy currently serves in policy roles for both the Alliance of Nursing Informatics and the Nursing Knowledge Big Data workgroup. She is also one of two nurses serving on the national DaVinci Clinical Advisory Committee. Nancy holds additional membership in AONL, ACHE, AMIA, ANA, ANIA, AWHONN, HIMSS, MNRS, and Sigma Theta Tau.
Nancy’s has had the opportunity to work alongside national healthcare leaders as they implement technologies in their organization. Nancy’s systems implementation work has spanned community hospitals to large integrated delivery networks implementing the EHR and other integrated clinical technologies and systems. Nancy’s work has included partnerships with IT, vendors, nursing, physicians, and allied health providers. Nancy has provided systems strategy, configuration, and clinical transformation guidance, as well as collaborative oversight and integration with revenue cycle systems and operations. The blend of her experience has provided a rich background which serves her well in the role of an executive in healthcare IT and clinical informatics. Nancy hold a Master’s in Nursing with an emphasis in Health Systems and Healthcare Informatics and is board certified in nursing informatics. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison focused on clinical technology adoption in nursing. Nancy’s desire to impact change in healthcare as a lifelong learner, along with her professional experiences have positioned her well as an advisor for strategic systems leadership.
